Overview

Lima is a town in the northeastern-most part of Livingston County, bordered to the north by Honeoye Falls and Mendon (Monroe County), to the east by West Bloomfield (Ontario County), to the south by Livonia, and to the west by Avon. The town includes a village also named Lima and the hamlets of North Bloomfield and South Lima.


Essentials

For shopping, Lima doesn’t offer a lot besides a Dollar General store, a few mini marts, a family restaurant and some antique shops. The neighboring village of Honeoye Falls, just 4 miles north, has the Honeoye Falls Market Place, a small grocery store, and a Rite Aid Pharmacy. For more grocery shopping, the Tops Friendly Markets store in Avon is only 7 miles west of Lima. The Wegmans grocery store on Hylan Drive in Henrietta is 15 miles north; the Wegmans in Geneseo is about the same distance to the southwest.



Recreation & Entertainment

The main attractions here are outdoors. Hunting, fishing, hiking and snowmobiling are popular in the area. Conesus Lake, one of the smallest of the Finger Lakes, is about 12 miles southwest. Mendon Ponds Park in Monroe County is about 11 miles north. Neighboring Avon has a drive-in movie theater and a busy flea market in warm-weather months. The village of Honeoye Falls, just north of Lima, has a few attractions. The State University College at Geneseo often features music, theatrical productions, lectures and other events.



Transportation & Traffic

Routes 5 & 20 pass east-west through Lima and intersect in the heart of town with the north-south Route 15A. Routes 5 & 20 connect several small towns in the area and make for an ideal Sunday drive for antique shopping and such. Interstate 390 is just a few miles west of Lima.



Pros & Cons

Lima is small-town living. The school district is well regarded, and the town has plenty of wide-open space to get out and enjoy nature. The town has several quaint, historic buildings that will appeal to architecture- and history buffs. There’s a drive-in theater just down the road, in Avon.
