Otherwise, your entertainment options in Ossian are of the outdoor variety: Camping, hunting, hiking and snowmobiling all are popular activities here. Ossian is just a few miles from the magnificent Stony Brook State Park, which offers picnicking, camping, a “natural” swimming hole and a gorge-side hiking trail that passes several waterfalls.

Route 436 heads east-west across the northern part of town. Most of the roads here are local roads. Interstate 390, which travels north-south, is accessible in Dansville.

Pros & Cons

Ossian is the ultimate for small-town living, a town with lots of wide-open space, little development and few people. You’re close to a major ski resort and to Stony Brook State Park. The neighboring village of Dansville is just a few miles away and serves the area for most shopping needs. Dansville also has Noyes Memorial Hospital and a historic downtown district.
