Recreation & Entertainment This is small-town living, where regular entertainment includes events like the fire department’s barbecue dinner and church yard sales. There’s plenty of room for outdoor activities of all sorts here. Hope Valley Camp has a pond, two creeks, a paintball field and rifle range, and activities like kayaking, hiking and fishing and archery. The town of West Sparta hosts the annual Old Fashioned Day, which includes a Civil War camp, music, arts and crafts, and more. Nearby towns offer a variety of activities. Geneseo, home to the State University College at Geneseo, has all of the attractions you would expect to find in a college town. Geneseo has night clubs and restaurants, shopping, a movie theater and bowling; the college hosts music, theater, lectures and special events. Dansville also has a movie theater and is host of an annual hot-air balloon festival. The Mount Morris entrance to the vast Letchworth State Park is only 10 miles northwest; Stony Brook State Park in Dansville is about the same distance to the southeast. Conesus Lake and Hemlock Lake also are short drives from West Sparta. |
